Enjoy my first attempt at recording a  podcast  !

Today is my first day experiencing “Online Learning”. This shift was made due to the infamous COVID-19, better known as the coronavirus. This happens to be the first assignment that I am completing remotely form the comfort of my home. But am I actually “comfortable”? The answer is no, I’m not. This is so new to me. I might even say it’s scary. I don’t know what to expect from my classes, I don’t know how some of the instruction is going to take place.  I put myself at ease by reminding myself that we are all experiencing the same issues together as we navigate through this. I remind myself that I can spend more time with my puppy (who is almost 1!!) and I can tackle my never ending pile of books “TBR” (to be read).  As news surrounding the virus began to emerge, I was lost. Steve Richards was a great influence. We were able to speak casually with him about his career and what he did to get there. He got his education at Ramapo and studied music and business. He was aware that he needed to get ahead and made efforts to cultivate opportunities for himself.  I was amazed by the fact that he would wake up in the very early morning to use transportation from New Jersey to get to his internship in New York. He would wake up at around 3 to 3:45 am and was still taking classes on campus.  Aside from his internships and schooling, he spoke about his current position as the Promotions Manager at Republic Records. He explained the logistics surrounding his job and what he does on a day to day basis. Then he shifted his focus on the more “fun” aspect of his work. Brian Sedita came to speak to both CITVC classes on recently. I made the connection for him to join us while we were at work one day. He often spoke about how much he enjoyed his time in Ms. Menake’s class and how much of an impact the course has had on him. I’ve known him for years through the friendship between our sisters. Years later, we happened to be employed at the same library! I’ve also been inspired by Brian’s drive and determination. His work ethic does not compare to anyone else I know. I always appreciate his advice and guidance on all things. During his visit, he shared his experience as a creator, producer and co host of a podcast. He created the “Page to Stage” podcast as an outlet for those involved in the theater industry but do not have a very strong presence on the media. To put it into perspective, 56.3 percent of the parliament is made up of women, making it the most female-friendly national legislature on the planet.     When Mr. Johnson presented abortion as a topic of interest, I was immediately interested. I expanded my knowledge on the topic and got to know more about a common procedure that women have the right to choose. I explored various ideas and scenarios which would give me a better understanding of what its like to get be in the position of contemplating abortion.       Mr. Johnson’s discussion allowed me to reflect and think about the bigger picture as a whole, there is more to an abortion than making a choice, paying money and leaving “baby-free”. There are thoughts to be had, papers to be signed, people to speak with and a final decision to be made. This is not a procedure that is made in the spur of the moment. The stereotype of these clinics is radiated through social media in an awful way.
